Diva Challenge #182: "Stripes"

This week's Diva Challenge is to use stripes as a string. This was fun. It wasn't quite as easy I thought as I had to stop and think about a few tangles to use. Did not spend a lot of time but just browsed different tangles. I mostly used favorites for this. Not thrilled with the end result but it is okay. Is mostly the transitions between the different tangles. Here is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Chainlea, Copada, Betweed, Shattuck, 'Nzeppel, Arckles, and Bales.

As I said above was not thrilled with it. Thought about a couple of things to try, including just shading between the different stripes. If I have time, may make copies and then experiment with a couple of things.

Hopefully I will have some time to view all the different things that others have posted. I have only seen a few that have shown up in my reader. Would encourage you to visit I am the Diva to look at all the great works of art.

Thanks for visiting. As always, comments are welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated.

Go Tangle !!

  1. i like this...it's cool how your little chainlea is a minor stripe of its own, on the edge. Your Nzeppel is very good, too.

  2. You're to hard on yourself; I like this tile. I think you did well with the space between the stripes.

  7. nicely balanced composition. I always think of Bales as a great grid pattern but you have turned it into a lovely stripe. Nice work.

  8. I think this challenge was difficult for many because it really confines one to a certain shape. That isn't very "Zen" and we never teach that way. I would agree that shading might make you happier but I would look at this as more of a study of tangles to use in a longer and more narrow part of a string. Each tangle you chose is very nicely done and the finished tile is pleasing to look at.

  11. There's so much work in those stripes that the clear space between sets them off really well. I like your choice of tangles, some make obvious stripes but others like Nzeppel don't, but do work really well (if you see what I mean!) Linda x

  13. Hi there Donald!! I don't know why you are not totally pleased with your tile. I love it! Your N'zeppel is fantastic!(that is one tangle that has not grown on me, but it always looks so nice when I see others using it) Anyway, I think your stripes are lovely! Thank you for leaving a bit of sunshine on my blog! That was my first time using Girdy. This challenge really made me go out of organic and try other things! Have a fantastic weekend! :0) Share humanity

  17. I must agree with the majority vote - beautiful tile. Very pleasing and flowing, with nice "tone" to it. I like it.
I also like very much your selection of background fabric. Excellent choice which nicely complements the tile

  18. As others have said, you're much too hard on yourself. This is a lovely tile. The spaces between the stripes show off the tangles very well. Nice job.
