I love the the Narwal in the corner. It's beautifully done too. And I agree with that Lynell said above that everyone's style is different. I know that if someone tried to tell me that I couldn't use a pencil to make my guidelines, I would probably just avoid them in the future. I really don't think that art should be governed by silly rules as it is created by the artist and represents how they feel. You did a beautiful job on your tile this week. :)LezliBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07207801337395514834noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-890635368370889578.post-30894345369513445572015-06-07T00:45:55.910-04:002015-06-07T00:45:55.910-04:00I really like your work this week. (wish I had more time in my life for play right now...but summers are that way). Regarding not using a pencil, a ruler, an eraser, etc....I sort of feel like if those aids are something that are helpful to a beginner or even a more experienced tangler...why not? I know that Zentangle is a process, but how each person creates or processes their art should be a personal choice. Wayne (hubbie) has been a working artist all his life and pretty much a self taught tangler although he's a CZT as well AND as in most of our life together...he just doesn't tell me what to do (unless I ask him). So when I ask him his opinion on how to draw this or that...he gives me options of how to do things the easiest way possible and practicing with a pencil is sometimes the easiest for me to be successful with for my learning process. At heart I am a teacher...mostly I taught stenciling and learned that there are about as many learning styles as there are people. So better to let the student determine what is best for them.Lynell Harlow / Dreamweaver Stencilshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08297706533426869072noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-890635368370889578.post-49765688715380347362015-06-06T23:04:26.294-04:002015-06-06T23:04:26.294-04:00Lovely tile, Donald :) I like the different variat...Lovely tile, Donald :) I like the different variations of all boxed up. I think the main part is: Zentangle has to calm yourself and makes you happy. It should make fun too - and if I'm more happy when I made a few lines with pencil so I can draw over them or erase them it's okay for me. <br /><br />I tried Narwal without the string and it looked... interesting but not like Narwal *g*<br /><br />I like your tile!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-890635368370889578.post-4348002680762246982015-06-06T09:22:43.133-04:002015-06-06T09:22:43.133-04:00Wonderful tile! I've never tried Narwal and was not aware there was a controversy, um, discussion. Looking at the one you've done, I don't think I'm seeing a pencil string nor imagining why one would be necessary. I'll likely change my tune once I try it. ;-)Suzanne Fluhr https://www.blogger.com/profile/15164389928331501665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-890635368370889578.post-58252808265366715832015-06-05T22:32:50.475-04:002015-06-05T22:32:50.475-04:00Was not really a controversy but was a thread on t...Was not really a controversy but was a thread on the new group started, CZT Tangle Discovery. One of the administrators posted a definition of a tangle. Was basically the one that Linda Farmer has on Tangle Patterns. She pose the question that Narwal was not a tangle because in the video it used a pencil string to make it. Was really no resolution.
