Needle Crafts

I was fortunate enough to grow up in a period when some gender barriers were broken. Rosie Greer was doing needle point. I became re-involved with knitting and crocheting in college as a way to do something constructive when I was watching sports on TV and also it was an inexpensive way to make gifts for family. It also was a relaxing activity and gave me some certainty in what at times is a very uncertain profession.  As we began our family it was also a way to make things for our children, which as they grew became extra clothes for dolls and cabbage patch kids. I still enjoy making things as gifts and have also begun a "tradition" of making an afghan/blanket for each or our 6 grandchildren.  The latest one is the only one that I may be able to post a picture of as it is still not finished. I also enjoy making things for gifts. Sometimes this can be challenging as some of the items that are used in patterns are not always readily available in local stores. Sometimes you just have to be creative.  Below are a few examples of things I have done in the last couple of years. As I can locate them I will post the pattern that I used, as none of these are original designs.

Saw some really cute coffee mug cozies...for the "coffee lovers" in your life....I cannot seem to pick it up the craft. though. Have tried a gazillion times....have you ever tried hand knitting?

  3. We seem to have many of the same interests. Are you a Ravelry.com member? Lots of patterns and discussion and support on there, even a casual cyclist group (of which I am a member). I'm Wenwe there if you want a friend on Ravelry.

  4. Love it! your grandkids have a GRAMPA who knits and crochets. Gender busting, indeed.
