Diva Challenge #136: "Colour Colour Everywhere"

This was an interesting challenge for a number of reasons. The color part was actually the easiest. I really liked the way that the water color wash came out. Unfortunately, it did not photograph well. The browns particularly did not come through as well. I also chose not to do any shading. That is unusual for me. I was thinking of doing more of an organic tile, but this did not end  up this way. There were a combination of tangles.  I think I over thought the tangles. Photographing was the biggest challenge. I think it would have done better with natural light, but there is not a lot of that at 9:30 PM, at least in the Midwest. Maybe if I lived in Alaska. Cannot scan things either. It may have come out better that way. Oh well, this is what I ended up with, I hope you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Keeko, Zander(variation), Tierso, Antidots, Cadent, Mooka,

I have not looked at the other things submitted on I am the Diva, but plan to do so. Probably are enough now that it will take me a couple of days to get through all of them. Would encourage you to also go look at all the great pieces that others have done.

Thanks for visiting. As always comments are welcomed, encouraged and appreciated.

Go Tangle !!

  1. You are to hard on yourself Donald. I like this tile, especially the 'chain' deviding the tile.

    1. Thanks. That is Tierso. It is a tangle that I came up with a while back. It can be put together to fill a space but tend to use it more as a border or a string.

  2. Nice! I also noticed the chain like tangle and the S's in the right corner...clever!

    1. Thanks. Tierso is to dividing tangle. I posted it a while back. Do not know if the "S" pattern has been out there before or not. I have not investigated it yet. I did not give it a name. It was something that I came up with when exploring using the basic shapes. Came up with about 5 different things. Have not posted yet and have not thought of names that could be used.

  5. I really like the way the washes of colour have dictated the parameters of your various tangles. Lovely.

  6. Hi Donald, thank you for visiting my blog, I appreciate it. I also think you are being too hard on yourself. I have to say that I love the texture you got from the Keeko, it really looks like a rough weave that one would want to touch, in fact, my dining room chairs have exactly that on them, I just realised why I recognised it!

  7. The color wash is quite nice. I also think that your "S" chain pattern is very good; I like the combination of the lighter lines and the heavier black diamonds.

    1. That pattern was the result of "S"-ploring with that basic element. It you are interested, did a post just after this challenge that showed a number of other things that I came up with. Hoping others will play with it and also come up with other things.

  8. I really like the way the color glows from underneath. (I think that you are being to hard on yourself too!)

  9. The colouring and the tangles form a very nice combination! I like Tierso and the "S" chain pattern (maybe "S-plore" is a good name?) a lot! I will gladly try them.
