Tangles used: Left - Meer, Cubine, Right - Mumsy, Ribbon petals, Zinger
The one in the upper left on the left tile does not have a name. It is one that was the result of experimenting with one of the basic strokes.
The shading on Cubine was done with a graphite pencil and a Fabrico grey marker. All other shading was with a graphite pencil.
I have not looked at many on the Diva's site, but I did see that there are all ready a lot things posted. Would encourage you to go and visit by clicking here. It may also encourage you to give it a try or participate yourself. If you are unsure, or have questions, feel free to ask.
Thanks for visiting. As always, comments are welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated.
Go Tangle !!
Two nicely executed tiles... and so very different in style from the other. I really like the contrast in the grey/blue tile and also really like the whimsy in your second flowery tile.
ReplyDeletenice tiles - I especially like the shading. well done.
ReplyDeleteBoth are very nice. I like your Cubine variation :)
ReplyDeleteI too am not so sure about this new small tile and think I would lean towards using it for trying out tangles. I love your mumsy tile, reminds me of the dahlias in my garden. Linda
ReplyDeleteLove love love the mumsy - I can really see the chrysanthemum that inspired the tangle - fab!
ReplyDeleteI really like the mumsy tile! The other has awesome shading! What did you use to get the two different colors of gray in that one? It's lovely!
ReplyDeleteThe vertical shading is graphite pencil and the horizontal is the Fabrico Grey Marker.
Deletelove it! very nice!
ReplyDeletenice done, the 3D effect on the first tile is awesome
ReplyDeleteTwo terrific Tiles, Donald. I, too, like your mumsy. Fabulous shading.
ReplyDeleteDonald, these are super GREAT... I love them... your work is so exact... mine is a little bit more loose... LOL... anyway... it did take me all morning... because I had to use up all the little 2x2 squares I had cut.... LOL... I cut about 30... and knew that they would get tossed it I didn't' use them THEN! So I did... and choose the ones I wanted to use for my block... Great Work/play as always Donald... Love, Light and Peace...Bonnie
ReplyDeleteA lot of precision went into such teenie tiles; very nice
ReplyDeleteAmazing tiles!
ReplyDeleteBoth are beautiful! Great choice of tangles!
ReplyDeleteLove the gray marker as shading! You did a wonderful job even though you're not !00% crazy about them yet!! I love them!!! :0) Share humanity
ReplyDeleteNicely done. I love how you got the Cubine look so "real".
ReplyDeleteThank you also for the details on your shading tools. You'd be amazed, but as a new comer, it took me several weeks before I understood that people are shading with grey markers and not only pencils. Very valuable information...
Some people are good about posting the tangles that they use, the size of their tile and what materials they use. I agree it is helpful. It was to me when I first started so I have usually included that information in my posts.
DeleteExactly !
DeleteThank you for that

DeleteLove both tiles!
ReplyDeleteA grey marker... Didn't know about it either. I will go and try to buy one to see the difference
I like both tiles, Donald, but my favorite is the one with Zinger in it. Hm, I never heard of shading with a marker, I always use pencils.
ReplyDeleteLovely tiles, Donald...and I have to say how much I like the Mumsy one. It's not a tangle I've ever done and it holds its own very well on the smaller tile. Axxx
ReplyDeleteI really like both your tiles, but especially the first one. The shading on your Cubine looks so mysterious and your treatment of Meer with the levels of shading have great dimension. Love those gray markers.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your tiles, as others are, but if you're not enjoying them, its just not good. Instead of making your work smaller, what about trying a magnified view on the small tile of just a segment of your work? Just an idea hoping to make it fun.
ReplyDeleteIlse, not sure why blogger is not letting me respond on your comment. I have a grey Irojiten pencil that I would like to use sometime for shading. I think Copic and Tombow make a series of grey markers that are different gradations.
ReplyDeleteThanks for for your information, Donald! Both here and on my site. Very helpful. I have some 'technical' problems on commenting too, I don't know why. Very kind of you to try to comment on 2 sites!
ReplyDeleteI love your shading on Cubine. I have been having fun using the Fabrico grey marker for shading tiles. Love the color. I also love our Mumsy, it looks beautiful and is one of my favorite tangle patterns.

Both tiles are beautiful and your shading, as always, is excellent!
ReplyDeleteBeautifully intricate and wonderfully shaded.
ReplyDeleteBoth of your Bijou sized tiles are nicely done. I got a gift of one Bijou tile from a swap I was in and I think it is adorable. I've been playing along with an inchie group so a twinchie size was not difficult. I'm thinking that maybe the idea has to grow on you :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job on the 2x2s! Both are so different. I've been shy with my grey marker -- I just have to get used to it. I like how you used it in Cubine to get just another shade of grey. Nice!
