Diva Challenge #94: "UMT v. X: Socc"

Was not sure if I would be able to do any of the challenges/dares this week because of getting things ready for the craft/art show. Used this one as a break from doing all the Christmas things but was able to incorporate a little of both. I had seen Socc before but had never used it in any tangles. It was a little labor intensive because of the large space that I used but still fun to do. Getting this posted now because I will need to get back to doing ZIAs and other things for the show. Here is my tangle using Socc. Hope you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Socc, Flux, & Tipple. Not sure if the woven string is an official tangle or what its name is. If anyone knows please let me know.

I mentioned that I could was able to combine doing something for the challenge and also something for the gift shop. This is actually a combination of last week's and this week's challenge.

Use Bunzo and Socc to complete this snowflake. Socc was a little difficult because it is in a smaller space but it is there.

If you haven't yet, please take the time to go and view all the other submissions by others at the Diva's blog .
Thanks for visiting and hope you enjoyed it. As always, comments are always welcomed and appreciated.

    1. Thanks. I did Socc first and was a little undecided about what to do with it. The woven border was really to separate the tangles and went with a more organic tangle as Demi,Dex, or Cubine, all of which I thought about seemed too much grid.

  2. love your socc tile, Donald! You did a wonderful job with it! The snowflake looks terrific, too - good use of both these patterns :)

Good luck with the craft show!

    1. Thanks. More experience with doing tiles and the positive comments from fellow tanglers/artists has made me more comfortable with the end results. I am not sure I will ever stop being my own worst critic. I was really surprised how the two tangles on the snowflake did work together.

    2. We're always our own worst critic. I try to take everything that I draw, good and bad, as a learning experience and move on - but sometimes it's so hard to do!

  4. The Socc tile is great! Somehow very different from what I've seen up to now.
The snowflake would fit beautifully in my tree, it has the right color :)
Pity this art show is so very far from Belgium! Good luck with it.

    1. Thank you for your compliments on the tile and the snowflake. I am hoping that people here will also like it enough to purchase it. This was about the 4th snowflake I did and not really sure why the orange and these tangles stood out so much. Was a pleasant surprise when I finished.

    1. Thanks for both the comment and the naming of the tangle. Will have to pull out my "official" step outs and review them. Thanks again.

  7. Love how you shaded Socc, and added dark areas that make it so bold and graphic!

  9. Lovely! I particularly like how your Socc has turned out. It's very different to mine, but that's what I love about Zentangle.
