After posting this, and after receiving a comment, I did find out that Melissa Hoppes had created a tangle Frippery, that is very similar to this. The step outs are different, but they end in a similar fashion. The only place I know it is available is in Kass Hall's Zentangle Untangled.
It has a number of possibilities but may tax your need for symmetry depending on how you approach it. The name was picked because as I was drawing it, I thought of going down a curling slide and the glee that might be expressed, thus Whee.
Hope you enjoy it and would be open to seeing things that you tried with it. Here is the step out.
Here is a tile where I used it.
This is a tile that I used it in recently. As you can see, you can get quite a different look depending on how you fill, shade, or embellish it.
Thanks for visiting. As always, comments are welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated.
Go Tangle !!
Isn't Whee the same thing as Frippery Eh?
ReplyDeleteI had not heard of this tangle before your comment. After some searching, I have contacted the person who created Frippery Eh to get their perspective on this. I can see the similarity, They are constructed quite differently and it seems that the intent of them is a little different. I will post if and when I get a response. I appreciate your pointing this out. No one else who has seen the tangle has recognized this similarity.
