Diva Challenge # 189: UMT "Yuma" by Tina-AKUA, CZT

Has been a busy few couple or weeks. This is the first Diva Challenge I have participated in for about 3 weeks. In between two classes, and a couple of days of the flu, I also did a presentation at the Art Educators Association of Indiana Convention on the Zentangle® and ZAP ( Zentangle Apprentice Program). I am barely getting this is under the wire. This is an interesting tangle. There is not a lot of difficult lines to draw, but not sure that I got the hang of it. Had a little difficulty deciding how to finish the tile. Here is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Yuma, Meer, Hi-Cs, and vine

Hopefully I will get a chance to look at what some others have done. If you have not all ready done so, would encourage you to go look at the great art that others have posted. click here to go to the Diva's blog.

Still have lots to do before the end of the day and the start of the work week. Hoping to participate again regularly.

Thanks for visiting. As always, comments are welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated.

Go Tangle !!

  1. Hi Donald.
I like your Yuma Tile. Great Yuma pattern and I find the stripped pattern very striking. I know nothing of the ZAP program. (Pause here-google-ZAP-I'm back.) Wow, Donald. That is so great that you are part of that program. I hope you will post your experiences. I would love to learn how ZAP is progressing and how the teachers are responding to the Zentangle learning experience. Have you knowledge how their students are responding to this great program? I've missed your posts the last few weeks and am glad to see your back.

    1. The last two years Sakura has underwritten CZTs doing presentations at their states' Art Educators conventions. I do not know if there is much consistency among the states. Sakura picks the CZT and they have to apply to their state convention to get on the program. Not sure how many will be presented this year. My workshop focused on familiarizing them with the materials used, how it can address educational objectives, and some of the benefits of the Zentangle® method. Since my background is not in art, but mental health as I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I focused on how Zentangle could be used to address such things as self-esteem, problem solving, communication, decision making and cooperation. I have not gotten any evaluation results but the teachers that attended seemed receptive.

    2. The first part of the workshop was similar to what I would do in a Basic class. This was to familiarize them with the process.

  2. I like the way you framed Yuma. Hope you are better by now.
