Erin at The Bright Owl picked a unique template for this weeks challenge. She has not posted what she did yet. Am anxious to see what she does. I have to admit the first thing that I thought of when I saw the template was Auraknot. It was not calling to me, it was yelling at me. So I chose to listen. I was not sure what else to do but as is many times the case, once I start the tangles emerge. One of the harder things to decide what to do was the center. I did not want to leave it blank. The next struggle was to fight my urge to fill all the different spaces. the Flux around the outside was the last thing that I added. It looked okay without it but all that space just did not seem right. I did resist any urge to fill in the spaces between the Newell. I don't remember the last time I completed a challenge so quickly. I really enjoyed doing this and thought it was a great template. Hope you enjoy it.
Tangles used: Newell, Auraknot, Flux, Scrawlz(variation). Not sure that the center, or the intertwined lines is actually a tangle.
If you have not all ready done so, would encourage you to visit
The Bright Owl to look at what others have done with this template. Check back frequently throughout the week as there are always new additions.
Thanks for visiting. As always, comments are welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated.
Go tangle.
oh wow I like what you did with this. very out of the box.
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was a fun one to do.
DeleteOh, You have had very large jog, You have been busy with this difficult tangle. You have drawn very beautiful wholeness.
ReplyDeleteAuraknot can be challenging but if stick with it you will get it. Thank you for your positive comments. Hope to see more of your work in subsequent Dares.
DeleteWOW, this is very beautiful. Auraknot is GREAT here.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Like I said that is the first thing that I thought of when I saw this template. It was fun to do.
DeleteThis is a wonderful Zendala, each tangle flows to the next.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Sometimes they flow together without much effort. This was one of those times.
DeleteBeautiful! As a newbie to Zentangle I am not sure what all the patterns are called but did fill several pieces of paper attempting to following instructions for using the Auraknot (unsuccessfully) so I am impressed with this light airy design featuring this pattern! Thanks for sharing! This is my first official week in the challenge (#19) ...I know it is going to be a serious addiction!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments. I have been doing this for a while and I do not know the names of all the different tangles. There are many. Keep trying with Auraknot. Hope you were able to access the video of this as I think that makes it easier to see what you can do.
DeleteLovely!!!....Your Auraknot looks so neat....:)
ReplyDeleteThanks. Over all I think I did a good job. If you look closely though you will see some that are off. I think that is the difference of looking at the whole vs. the individual elements. I can see them more readily because I did them.
Deleteoh yes this is very cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Glad that you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteHa! we had the same idea for using auraknot! Great job. I like what you did with the rest of the tile as well - it is much 'freer' and more flowing than mine.
ReplyDeleteI am surprised that more did not use Auraknot. Sometime the biggest part of the challenge is deciding what supporting tangles to use.
DeleteThis is really nice, topped off with the dark and light centre.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Would have liked a little more depth perspective but not sure how would have done this.
DeleteI love this. It almost has a fine lace effect. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you. I enjoy seeing what you post.
DeleteThis is so nice and delicate. Beautiful work, Donald.
ReplyDeleteNicely done Donald. Auraknot called out to me too, but I really like the way you've tangled the rest - leaving just the right amount of openness! Newell is new to me - I like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I saw Newell in Sandy Bartholomew's Totally Tangled. This is the first time that I used it.
DeleteI so envy your Auraknot. Sadly, I am Auraknot-challenged!! I just cannot make it work. Your entire piece flows so nicely and is very lovely.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Don't give up on it. It is a great tangle. It is kind of like paradox in that once you get it, it flows easily.
DeleteThis is a great Zendala, I love the intertwined lines in the center.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
