Zendala Dare #58

Not sure what was going on with this Dare. I do not know if I had Kuke on the brain because of last weeks Diva challenge. It could have been because I did not totally like the result of that tile. When I saw the template that Erin chose for this weeks Dare my eyes very quickly went to those great Y's in the outer ring. I figured this would give me an opportunity to do Kuke in a larger format. Since I was also thinking about things for Christmas I wanted to do something with color. I am more pleased with the overall result. I used a Micron, a Sharpie and an Inktense pencil on this one. I hope you enjoy it.




Tangles used: Knightsbridge, Kuke, Flux, Zinger, and Fescu. I am not sure what the center one is called. It is a variation of one that a CZT did in a line. If anyone knows its name I would appreciate them letting me know.

If you have not all ready done so, would strongly recommend that you go to The Bright Owl and look at all the other submissions.

    This is beautiful...I love the use of kuke, I also found this mandala screamed for kuke...nice colours!!

      Thanks. Based on what I saw and others comments, I was in the majority using Kuke. I am a little more comfortable with it now.

      Thanks.Yes Cecile, Kuke was a popular tangle. Did not realize this until after mine was done as I did not look at others postings. There is variety of how it was used.

    I also did Kuke's around the outside and couldn't understand how your's looked so different. I looked backwards and forwards between both before I realised how you had done yours. Its an excellent use of the template this week.

      Thanks Chrissie. I did eliminate one arc on the template. That allowed me to work in a more rounded space. There were quite a few variations.

    Thanks. I try to put the names for two reasons. One people who are new to tangling and it helps them find tangles to try. It also helps me remember the names as there are so many.

    Nice work Donald - Love the balance of color with black/white; and your kukes really pop in colour! Great choice of tangles, and I'd love to know what the middle one is too - it's neat. Posting names of tangles is also good for those of us who have been doing it a while, because we do forget, or "misremember".... ;)

    I love that the color choices balance so nicely yet give it a almost 3-D feel! Thanks for naming the tangles used..as a newbie I am still trying to learn them and the names for them!!! LOL!!!

    Very pleasing combination of tangles. I really like your Christmas Kukes.
    The center tangle with Knightsbridge really draws the eye, and the combo of flux, zinger and fescue around the outside is very pretty.

    I'm a little late with some of my comments this week, but I made it; whew! Donald, this is lovely. The Kuke goes very well, and the colors do remind me of Christmas. Would look lovely on the front of a card.
