The Diva is back, at least for a little while, and she decided to do a UMT ( use my tangle) challenge. I remember seeing this one before but have never used it before. Did not really want to do a monotangle but was not sure what to do. Decided to start out with making the frame and go from there. Instead of just drawing lines though, I decided to just use a tangle. Probably the hardest part of this tile was deciding what to do in the center. I thought about leaving it blank, but did not really like that option. I thought about using organic tangles, but that did not seem to fit with the layering effect that had developed. I ended up using an old standby, Paradox. It took me awhile to get comfortable with this tangle but now I have to be careful that I do not over use it. Here is what I ended up with. I hope you enjoy it.
Tangles used : Annee, Crux, Paradox
The shading was an interesting task on this. I am pleased with it, but it did not show up well when I took the picture. Some of the shading on Crux is very light in this picture.
If you have not all ready done so, I would strongly encourage you to visit the
Diva's blog to look at all the other great pieces of art that others create. I got done with mine earlier this week, so am looking forward to having more time to peruse them.
Thanks for visiting. As always, comments are welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated.
Go Tangle !!
I love the focal in the middle...it looks like a tile inside a tile.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I like the tile effect of your tile (does that make any sense?) I find taking pictures of my work, especially the shading, very frustrating, no matter what setting I use on my camera. Shooting at an angle seems to help a little, as does not using a flash. I've recently tried scanning, but It too seems to have drawbacks.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Tile, Donald. I like the texture you used on Crux, and though light, the shading does show through. Good Job.
ReplyDeletewow, this is a very beautiful and very precise tile, Donald!! Just beautiful! :0) Share Humanity
ReplyDeleteBeautiful composition. Each part works with and yet sets off each other part. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBeatiful Donald, I like the border, and the paradox center, filled the background with crux. A very well balance layout in your tile.
ReplyDeleteI found it a little difficult to see how to shade Crux specifically, but love the way your shading makes the paradox in the centre appear to be floating above the tile :) Linda
ReplyDeleteYes, the center works well and the shading really makes it the focal point. I love to see Annee and you used it nicely here.
ReplyDeleteI love how you used Crux as a "matte" in a sense for the beautiful Paradox. Annee brings harmonious roundness to the whole piece. I love seeing the different and varied expressions that everyone takes with their tiles!
ReplyDeleteI like what you've done here. The frame works really well, and your Crux has a nice textured feel. Really well done.
ReplyDeleteWhat a rich lovely background! I love how you incorporated Crux and gave it a whole new meaning!
ReplyDeleteI like Crux the way you used it. Paradox is nice in the center.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tile :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautifulo tile! Great and very harmonious composition! I love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful tile! I like the border around it and how you added shade around Paradox so it looks like it is floating especially in the larger version.
ReplyDeleteGreat work!
ReplyDeletelove it! I realy do!
ReplyDeleteNice - everything really works together! Nathalie
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job, such an elegant tile! I totally get the restraint you used once you've been bitten by the Paradox bug, it's hard to stop., This enhances your tile perfectly, the cherry on the sundae!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful way to do this tangle Donald! Love the way that you did crux too!
