Diva Challenge #216: "UMT - Brella by Bunny Wright, CZT

Has been a while since I have posted anything or even done anything for any of the challenges or pages that I follow. It has been almost a month. That is unusual for me.  Could give lots of reasons for but won't bore you with it. This is a UMT challenge. It is an interesting tangle but not feeling particularly creative so just went with the obvious. Included Diva Dance as this was a fairly recent focus tangles on Square One. I enjoy playing with it. Here is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Brella, Diva Dance
Shading done with 4B pencil

I have not looked at any of the posts on the Diva's site. I am sure that there are some really fantastic things there. Hope to get some time to look at what others have posted.  Would encourage you to go to I am the Diva and look at some great art.

Thanks for visiting. As always, comments are welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated.

Go Tangle !!

  1. Very beautiful, your Diva Dance roses on top of Brella. Lovely. Great idea.

  2. I wouldn't have dared putting two such "busy" patterns together, but you've done a great job. The Diva Dance roses seem to rise above the 'Brellas. I think this is just great.

  4. Nice tile. Maybe stylistic clouds rolling over a forest?

  8. This is a very creative design. The shading really makes it pop and looks three dimensional. I think it is beautiful in its simplicity. Hope you have a better month.

  9. I really like those roses...I have tried them a couple of times but need to have them demonstrated I guess because I haven't been very successful and I am such a visual learner. They could be clouds too I guess...but "in the eye of the beholder" they seem like roses. And the brellas do seem like stylized pine trees. I have wondered if people with different languages understand the significance of the 'brella being part of the word umbrella. BTW...like your tile and I think the brellas are a good background for the 'roses'. Thanks for your comments on my blog and I don't think I even knew there was a blending pencil for the prisma color pencils. I'll look on line and see where one can be purchased because that sounds like an excellent idea. A lot of what was done was with the inktense watercolor pencils. I didn't have the best paper to be using watercolor on, so will have to try try again. Look forward to your next post.

    1. The blending pencils smooth out the color and also help with the transition between light and dark. I think I got mine on Amazon.

    2. Thanks for the update and where to try to find these. We might even make it out today. We have Michaels and Joanne's and Aaron Bros. Art marts...a bit of a drive to Hobby Lobby, but it's possible. Thanks again.

  10. Donald, I love your combination of Brella with Diva Dance. The very angular pattern contrasts so nicely with the curvy one, but the tonality you use ties them both together. Lovely!

  11. Donald, The contrast between the angular and curvy tangles are so nicely done. It looks as though they were meant to be together. Stunning tile. And glad to see you here again. :)
