Zendella Dare #90: Happy Birthday

The first dare of the month from The Bright Owl contains an additional challenge besides the template. This year Erin tied it in with her birthday, Feb 3, and asked contributors to give her a gift of using their favorite tangle in the template. When I read that I felt the same way I usually do when the Music Director asks the Praise Team, what is your favorite Praise Song or Worship Song. There are so many.  What I usually think about is the one that we just did or did recently. There are so many great tangles, how do you pick a favorite. I also figured that there would be some that would be repeated by others and I wanted to come up with something that others maybe did not use. I have my go to tangles like everyone else, but was not sure I wanted to use them and then I had to look at the template and figure out if there was a way to incorporate it into the template. I finally narrowed it down to a few tangles and included them all in this zendala. Here is what I came up with. Happy Birthday Erin. I hope you enjoy your present. I also hope the rest of you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Betweed, Paradox, 'Nzeppel, Twirl

Twirl is a tangle developed by Helen Williams at A Little Lime. She has a lot of great patterns. A lot of them have an organic character but they usually have some nice flow and curves to them, even if they use a grid as a base. If you have not been to her web site would encourage you to do so. Go Tangle !!

They are finally done - Well almost. Travel mug inserts.

Earlier I had posted an unshaded ZIA that I was going to use as a travel mug insert. Received some comments that people wanted to see them when they were shaded. I finally finished the inserts. The reason that I said they are almost done is that I still need to do the final cropping and insert them in the mugs. Here are pictures of the 5 inserts that I did. They will be in travel mugs which will be Administrative Asst. Day gifts for the staff at my office. Hope you like them.

This was my attempt to take a picture of the finished product. Only took one. Not the easiest to do and not get glare. Cannot see it, but this mug does have a handle.

Zendala Dare #27

This was an interesting undertaking for me. When I first saw the template I was a little overwhelmed. I saw all the small, irregular sections and was a little baffled about what I was going to do. I knew I did not want to leave the center empty and started there and worked my way out. Once I started though it seemed like ideas just came. Before I started I had thought of some entirely different tangles to use. There were a couple that I had never done before. One is Helen Williams  twirl tangle. As I was thinking about what to do, I went to her blog and saw this posted. I really like the things that she does. I tend to do more grid tangles and her lines are so smooth and flowing. If you are not familiar with her I strongly encourage you to visit her blog and look at all the things that she does. I do not think you will be disappointed.  Click on her name to see this tangle. My use of twirl has a slight variation on the border that was due to my lack of familiarity with the tangle when I decided to make it go all the way around. Over all though I am pleased with the result. I enjoy detail work but this one took some time to finish.

Now that this is done, I can move on to the Diva Challenge.
