Another tangled pumpkin

The other two that I did have been sold so was trying to get others done. Here is one that is a mixture of free form and structured patterns.  Used a Sakura Microperm pen to do the tangles.  I am fond of the tangled tree myself.  Here are picture of the top and the different sections of the pumpkin.

The tangle dividing the different "scenes" is Shattuck. It is one of my go to tangles.  Other tangles used include Sea Wave, Aquafleur, Phicops, Diva Dance, Squid, Indy-rella, and Sanibelle to name a few.

Diva Challenge # 322: "Trying Aquafleur"

I really enjoyed this week's challenge, even though it took me longer to complete my tile than usual. There were two prompts/inspirations for this challenge.  The challenge was on the tangle Aquafleur which Laura acknowledged, she was not quite comfortable with the way that it flowed. I think right after I saw the challenge but had not started, I saw Margaret Bremner's blog post on using tangles to make Deciduous Trees. Her first example used the tangle Aquafleur. She is doing a series of posts on this topic. She also has one on her work with houses. Really awesome stuff.

 Now back to the Diva Challenge. I have used Aquafleur before but usually only once in a tile. I had not ever explored the tangle before. That is what I decided to do. I did not try to make a tree but just wanted to use Aquafleur in a different way. I had never tried to combine them before.  It was kind of fun. Here is an example of how I used Aquafleur on a card that I did a few years ago.

This is probably the way I used the tangle before.  If I put more than one in a tile, they were just separate items.  This is an A2 size card.

Tangles used: Aquafleur, Printemps tangleation/Diva Dance

The reason I called this a Printemps tangleation is because of the way I did it.  It looks a lot like Diva Dance but I did it like Printemps.  

I have not had a chance to see many of the pieces submitted. Tangled pumpkin: Free form

Have continued to be busy trying to get things ready for the next 7 weekends. I had hoped to get some tangled pumpkins done earlier but was not able to get to them. I finally finished one. Usually when I do the pumpkins I use the vertical lines as the string and do tangles inside them.  Decided that I wanted to do one that was a little more free form. May have done a smaller one in this manner before, but not one this size. I chose the off white pumpkin. I used organic tangles for the major part of the pumpkin and used more grid based tangles for the top and bottom.  Here is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy it.

These first pictures are of all the tangles that I used around the pumpkin. I managed to not repeat any major tangles. Sanabelle, Zinger, and Fescu are the most often repeated but I considered these more embellishments.

This is the top of the pumpkin. Cannot really see it that well, but I think that the Msst around the top makes a nice finish.

This is what I did on the bottom. I just started in the center and worked my way out. 

Most of the work was done with a Microperm although I did use and identiPen on some of it. The identiPen  has more of a gloss finish.

I won't try mention all the different tangles that I used. In addition to the ones that I all ready mentioned I used, Chain lea, Phicops, Aquafleur. Featherfall, Dragonair, Mooka, Flux, Angel fish, Hear vine, and Antidot.

I am guessing that it took between 5-6 hours to complete. A little tough to really get a good handle as did not do it in large time blocks until recently.

Square One, Purely Zentangle: Aquafleur

The prompt for this week is Aquafleur. This is relatively new tangle and many times has an aquatic nature to it. It however is one that has a lot of possible variations. I have not used it a lot but do like it. Mine tend to be a little more traditional. I have seen some really fantastic variations of this tangle. Maria Thomas has some in the newsletter on zentangle.com. Margaret Bremner has all ready posted a number of beautiful tiles on Square One on Facebook. You can view the pictures even if you are not a member. Here is what I came up  with. I am  pleased with it but as usual I can see areas that I would like to improve on . I hope you enjoy it.

Diva Challenge #152: New Official Tangle Aquafleur

I was able to get both the Diva  Challenge and the Zendala Dare done relatively quickly this week. The Challenge this week was to use the tangle just released to the public by Rick and Maria. The tangle is Aquafleur. It is a fun tangle and it lends itself to many variations. I remember seeing a number of great examples of this tangle when it was first released to CZTs. As usual there were a lot of amazing uses of this tangle. I have not used it a lot but did use it on a card that I made. I will post a picture of this under the tile that I did for this challenge. Since I had the time, and I do not like to only post something that I had done in the past for these Challenges, I did come up with another one. To me this usually has a somewhat organic nature. I have seen some other variations that have not. You can see some examples of this at zentangle.com and A Little Lime. Here is what I did for this challenge. I hope you like it. 

Tangles used: Bales, Aquafleur, Zinger, Fescu, 

Here is the card I made where I used Aquafleur. The other tangles that I used were Zinger, Ahh, Tipple, Joy & Indy-rella.
