Zendala Dare #53

This is a special Dare as Erin stated that she started the Zendala Dare 1 year ago. Congratulations!! I have not been doing them that long. I must admit that when I first started doing them I was a little intimidated by them but I have grown to really like doing them. I do not know if it is the symmetry and order that attracts me or what. I do know that I definitely have to think things through a little more. This one was fun to do. I may have to create a challenge for myself though. I do not know if anyone else has a tangle that they really like and find themselves using a lot. One of mine is Shattuck. I've noticed that I use it a lot lately. I just like the way it looks in a variety of spaces. I wonder if I can go a month and not use Shattuck in a tile or Zendala. But I digress.  I kept this simple as far as the number of tangles that I used. I also find myself using a combination of more structured and organic tangles in Zendalas more. Not sure why, but I like the combination. Well enough rambling, here is the Zendala. I hope you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Shattuck, Striping, Flux, and Zingers

I know this is a late post. I appreciate your taking the time to visit. Visit The Bright Owl and look at the other submissions.

As always, comments are welcomed, appreciated, and encouraged. Enjoy some tangling.

  2. Thank you for your encouraging comments. Shading is still the biggest challenge for me. I do think I have made progress, but still have a way to go.

  4. Really like how Striping frames up the Shattuck. I know what you mean... early on I had to put a temporary ban on using Paradox and Zander as they were showing up in almost every tile. It was a good habit to break as it did force me to branch out with other patterns.

    1. Thanks. The idea of using Striping in two of the sections just kind of evolved. It seemed to fit the spaces. Will hopefully not be too difficult to not use Shattuck. Will have to have more step-outs in my journal so I do not rely on memory so much. Guess that means I will have to practice some of the others more.

  5. This is really very beautiful; I love the playfulness of Zinger at the border. Shattuck is a tangle I use a lot too, it's simple and fits almost everywhere.

    1. Thanks. You can make it look so different with highlighting and how much curve you put on it. It will be a struggle for me not to use it as much, but I will still use it.

  6. Donald- I like the combinations of tangles you used. Each area seems to have a different energy, from exciting to moving to delicate. I looked up delicate for a synonym- but the definition of it was even better- "marked by great skill especially in meticulous technique" !

Thanks for your comment on my Zendala- I checked on my I-Phone and accidentally deleted it- oops!

    1. Thanks. Was not thinking a lot about the contrast in the different tangles when I was doing them. Stood out more after I had done them. Probably not a big deal that you accidentally deleted my comment, I doubt it was anything that profound.

    1. Thanks. That was the last thing I did. After I did the flux, just seemed that needed something else to finish it. Zingers was my first thought and I just went with it.
