Zendala Dare #85: Last Dare of the Year

Was excited when I saw the template as could see so many possibilities. That was a part of the challenge. There were so many different tangles that I could think of using, that was not sure what to use. I finally decided to use some tangles that were some of the first one's that I learned and used. As is usual for me, the toughest part about this challenge, besides what tangles to use, is the shading. I am not displeased with it, but not completely satisfied with it either. I hope that the New Year brings many blessings for you and your family. I hope you enjoy this Zendala.

Tangles used: Zander, Shattuck, Zinger

If  you have not all ready been there, would encourage you to go to The Bright Owl and look at the great pieces of art that others have submitted. If I have time, I may try to get a second one done to use some of the other tangles that I was thinking about.  You can also extend a little "Get Well"  wish to Erin as she thinks she may have broken a finger. Many blessings in the New Year and looking forward to participating in the Zendala Dares again next year.

Zendala Dare #84: Merry Christmas!!

This was a fun template to work with. I think it was for a couple of reasons. One, there were a lot of possibilities. Second, I returned to the basic Zentangle® method of using tangles and not planning. It again reinforced how the process works. I started out with one tangle and just decided what I would do next. As I was working on it, I had mixed reactions to the results. When I was done, I liked the way that it looked. Here is what I ended up with. I hope you like it. I also want to take the time to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

Tangles used: Daggerly, Betweed, Flux, Zinger, Paradox, Flora (variation)

I am guessing that due to the holidays, not as many people will be on line and looking at the things submitted by others. If  you have the time, take a few minutes to go to The Bright Owl and look at the neat things others have done.

Zendala Dare #83: Baby, it's cold out there

I kind of got stuck on this dare. When I read about the added challenge to create something that reminds you of winter, I could not get the the image of the cut-out snowflakes that use to make in school. I may have also been influenced by the 6" of snow that we received the day of the challenge. I considered doing something else like using tangles that the beginning letters spelled snow, but when I was looking at possibilities and the template, nothing quite seemed to fit for me. I am sure that some others would have made it work. I set out trying to put different shapes in the sections. This was different for me as I usually do not have this much fill. When I got done I was not sure how much it resembled a snowflake. I began thinking of some other way to depict winter. All I could think of was color. Blue is the color that usually associate with something cold. I began to use it highlight. I have to say that this is not what I envisioned when I started out, but I am satisfied with the result. Once again the magic of Zentangle® demonstrated. You do not have to start out with an idea and only go in that direction. You can start and let it go where it leads you.

I usually list the tangles that I use, but I did not use tangles in this one. I used my Micron pens, a Gelly Roll white pen and two generic blue colored pencils.

I have not looked at much at The Bright Owl but plan on taking in all the great works that people submit. Would encourage you to do the same.

Favorite Contemporary/Modern Christmas songs

This is a different post for me. I usually do not post these things on my blog. My original intent was to include this in my Diva Challenge post but did not think of it at the time and I was not sure how to do it. I have since learned how easy it is. I did add it to my post but not sure how many people will see it. Not really sure how many people will see this. These are two of my favorite modern/contemporary Christmas songs. I like  a lot of the traditional carols but these are so different and meaningful. If you have stumbled across this by accident or intentionally, I hope that you will take the time to listen to both of these songs. Enjoy them and I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

Diva Challenge #148: "Merry Happy"

Somewhat of an unusual challenge this week as The Diva wanted us to do a tile/ZIA that illustrated how we celebrate the holidays. Coming up with ideas was not hard. What was hard was coming up with something that I thought would accurately depict what is important to me about this holiday, but was within the scope of my limited artistic skills. This was definitely a challenge as my drawing, even more so than my shading, is one of the least developed of my skills. I tried to keep it simple. Because of what I chose to do, I actually used a limited number of tangles. I hope you enjoy it. And I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas  and a Blessed New Year.

Could not decide which picture I liked the best so I decided to post both of them. They are both taken without a flash. The top one is on the auto setting and the bottom one is with manual settings. My camera has some definite limitations on what I can do manually.
Tangles used: Diva Dance, Tipple, Ahh(variation)

If you have not visited I am the Diva to see the other great pieces, I strongly encourage you to do so. There are many fantastic artists that submit things regularly.

Thanks for visiting. As usual, comments are welcome, encouraged, and appreciated.

Had wanted to do this earlier and did not take the time, and did not really think about it too much. There are a lot of traditional Christmas songs that I like, but these are two of my favorite modern/contemporary Christmas songs. If you take the time to listen to them, I hope you enjoy them. The first is from 4 Him. The second is by FISH.

Go Tangle!! and Merry Christmas.

Road Bike Party 2 - Martyn Ashton

It has been awhile since I have posted anything other than something to do with Zentangle®. Saw this video and thought I would share it. It is fun to watch. Not sure where these guys come up with their ideas. As you can see at the end it is not without risks. Not what I would do during a bike ride but everyone has their own tastes. Hope you enjoy it.

Diva Weekly Challenge #147:"UMT: v. XXIII - Boo*Kee"

This weeks challenge is a UMT (use my tangle) challenge. This week it is using one at the Diva's own tangles that she recently posted. It is called Boo*Kee. Is not a difficult tangle and works well  as a string. could also be used as a border. Was not feeling particularly creative. Am a little zapped from a busy and hectic holiday schedule as well as some other minor issues. Working on the challenge was a little respite. Not sure about this one. Again it is the shading and possibly is too busy. I originally thought about using Keeko as a base, but looked at the Diva's tile again and saw that she used it. Hope you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Boo*Kee, Florz (variation)

I have not looked at many of the other tiles posted but plan to over the week. If you have not all ready been there would encourage you to go to I am the Diva to look at what others have done. Would also be nice to encourage those that you like by making a comment of what they did.
