Diva Challenge #268: " A-bit-o-black"

Had some time to try this week's challenge. It was interesting to me. The challenge was to add a little more black to the tile. At first I thought it might be an easy tile to do. I was wrong. But I persevered. Chose some tangles that I usually just shade or I did them in reverse. The end result was okay. Here is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Cadent, Jetties, Genoa, Tipple, and Betweed
Shading done with a 2B pencil. I also used a white Gelly Roll to outline the Tipple.

I started with the Tipple. I am so use to not filling this in that I was not thinking about leaving some space in between them so it did not look like a large black blob.  Was not sure exactly sure what to do but came up with outlining them with the white Gelly Roll.

I have not looked at what others have done. I saw one that showed up in my blog reader but that is it. Hoping to have time to look at more of the posts. If you have not done so, would recommend that you visit
I am the Diva and look at the great pieces that others have done. Would also recommend that you go ahead and try your own tile. You do not have to post it, but that is part of the fun.

Thanks for visiting.  As always, comments are welcomed, encouraged, and appreciated.

Diva Challenge # 168 :Tangleation Nation - Rain

Did not get a chance to comment on many of the things posted last week. Had a great time at the Hideaway. Hoping to incorporate some the things we did into classes in the near future. But I digress, since this is about this week's Diva Challenge. The Diva chose a tangle which I have used before but not very often and the task was to use variations or tangleations. I do not know that I have ever used it as a primary tangle before. I was not really sure what I wanted to do. I think it is a good frame or tangle to set a boundary. I chose to use a spiral as my string. mostly because it has been a while since I did this and I do like using a spiral and then transitioning different tangles. Here is what I came up with. I hope you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Rain, Printemps, Jetties, Shattuck, Fife(variation), Tipple
Used a variety of pens. I used both the white Insignio and the Gelly Roll as well as a Zenstone and Prisma white wax pencil for the highlighting. And just a little bit of graphite.

Now I am off to look at the other submissions on I am the Diva. If you have not all ready done so, would encourage you to explore the many great pieces of art created by very talented people.

Diva Challenge #160: "String Theory: Spiral out, Keep Going! (v.2)"

Was not sure if I was going to get this done before the deadline. I started a while ago but the week has been busy.  I have not even had a chance to look at things that others have submitted. I have not used spirals a lot although I like the ways that I have seen others use them, particularly Shelly Beauch. You can look at some great art by her by clicking on here to go to her blog. I think I got a little ambitious with the things that I tried to put in the spirals. Overall it turned out well. Here is what I came  up with. I hope you enjoy it.

Tangles used: Zander, Quib, Knot Ricks, Tripoli, Fengle, Betweed, Marasu, Printemps, Jetties, Indy-rella

I hope to have a little time now to look at what the others have posted on I am the Diva
